I am the Director of HR services at Smith Cooper and am based in the firm’s Derby office. I am responsible for the HR consultancy for the firm, offering HR advice and support to external clients, largely in the SME sector, with particular expertise in manufacturing.
What can I do for your organisation?
Smith Cooper’s HR service provides professional human resource management advice to all business sectors within the UK. We work largely with clients who need HR advice and support but cannot justify the expense of a permanent HR resource; our service encompasses all aspects of HR.
I graduated with a language degree and have, as a result, worked in global businesses learning my HR craft. My roles have largely encompassed European briefs, latterly as the HR director of an American corporation. As a consequence, I have a very pragmatic and commercial approach to HR.
Since joining Smith Cooper in 2005, I have worked with a wide range of businesses and sectors, supporting them in dealing with operational and strategic HR matters.
I am also a member of the Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
My particular expertise lies in conducting investigations, appeals and grievances on behalf of businesses who need an independent professional view.
When I have time, I enjoy reading. However, I am married with two teenage children, and that doesn’t leave me much room for hobbies – I am usually far too busy running Mum’s taxi service, chauffeuring them round to their various sporting and social activities!
