I am the tax Partner at Smith Cooper’s Nottingham office. I deal with the tax affairs and tax planning for business owners and individuals. I advise on a range of issues, from remuneration planning to complex company reorganisations.
What can I do for your organisation?
With over 20 years’ experience in finance and tax and several years in the Inland Revenue, I can structure your affairs to minimise your tax exposure.
My career in finance and tax began with working at the Inland Revenue. I gained valuable experience during this time and built up a good understanding of the workings of a large organisation. After several years, I moved to Grant Thornton, where I had the chance to specialise in personal tax issues and high-net-worth individuals.
In 1989 I moved to PKF, where I gained further valuable experience. My knowledge of tax progressed further with a new specialism in corporate tax, from small family companies to PLCs.
I was then asked in 1994 to join a smaller three-office firm to create a separate tax division for their organisation and develop tax specialisms. This goal was achieved and concluded in 2001. Upon completion of the project, I joined Smith Cooper as a manager, becoming tax partner in 2003.
My focus is on tax planning for individuals and owner-managed businesses. I can advise on a range of issues, from company reorganisations, shareholder disputes and inheritance tax through to all aspects of personal tax planning.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also enjoy going clay pigeon shooting, and more recently I have taken an interest in gun dog training, having just taken on two additional recruits – black Labrador puppies!
