I am the Head of Sage Business Solutions. This means that I head up the Sage team. I predominantly provide pre-sales and implementation consultancy on Sage installations to our wide and varied client base.
What can I do for your organisation?
I have been working with accounting software since 1990 and have implemented different systems in a multitude of sites. This gives me the ability to be able to discuss any system requirements and for me to be able to suggest a realistic and cost-effective system for your organisation. I can also provide a full review service to critique any existing systems and highlight any potential system improvements.
I began my accounting career in 1990 working for the small firm Landin Wilcock and Co. It was here that I trained and qualified as an auditor and accountant. I also supported the company’s IT system and managed the Sage bookkeeping bureau. I provided Sage Sterling, Sovereign and SFW support to clients.
In 1998 I began working for Holbrook Business Systems. I was an Access Accounts software support manager, providing technical support for clients using Access Horizons and Dimensions software.
After this, I spent three years at chartered accountants Barber Harrison and Platt. Here I held the title of Sage consultant. My role involved supporting, training and selling Sage 50, Sage Line 100, Sage Payroll, Winforecast and Sage MMS in organisations of various sizes.
I joined Smith Cooper in 2004 and now head up the Sage team, making sure you get the best-possible service from our skilled staff.
I consider myself to be an expert in various types of organisations, as I have dealt with many systems over the years that all have a common theme, starting with the back-office application. I have implemented Sage systems in retail and wholesale, service, technology, transportation, manufacturing, and education sites. Each type of implementation has its own niche requirements, and part of what we bring to each site is the experiences (good and bad) from other sites.
“I have no interests; I have children.” John Bishop, 2011.
Whenever I’m not working, I spend as much time as possible with the children. We have a son, Alexander, who was born in 2007, and a daughter, Charlotte, who was born in 2011.
I also spend a lot of time working on computers. I like to keep up with technology, and my kit at home reflects this. I have an up-to-date gaming system but rarely have the time to use it these days! I also really enjoy getting my hands dirty and doing something constructive. This is lucky, as renovating my new home is going to be an ongoing project for several years!
