I am a Senior Manager in the VAT and indirect taxes team.
What can I do for your organisation?
With regard to VAT, there are compliance issues that need to be addressed, particularly as the penalty regime is harsh. I can help ensure that rules are followed so that penalties can be avoided or minimised.
At the same time as ensuring compliance angles are covered, I will always try to see that opportunities to ensure VAT savings are maximised. It’s all about doing things in the best-possible way for businesses and individuals with minimum fuss.
I spent ten years as a VAT inspector with HM Customs and Excise (as it was called then), followed by roles as a VAT consultant with the ‘big four’ and then mid-tier firms. It’s been invaluable to deal with VAT and indirect tax from both sides of the fence, as well as then dealing with businesses large and small, from multinationals through to one-man bands.
I deal with all types of businesses, but am often called upon to present at conferences involving charities and those in the not-for-profit sector, as well as for retail and also the always complex land and property arena. I have spoken at conferences by ICAEW and the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, but I am equally happy presenting to anyone keen on learning more about VAT.
I was born in Wales to a Welsh father and an Italian mother, which means that I always have two teams to support in rugby and football! Although I have a grown-up family, the call of those countries is still strong for all of us, with regular trips to Wales and Italy as a family (although I must admit, the Italian cuisine just edges the Welsh!).
Sport is still an obsession, although my playing days are behind me and I have lived here long enough to know that Notts County, Nottingham Forest and Derby County are all very good teams …
