I am the Managing Partner of Smith Cooper and work in business advisory services, advising a broad range of privately owned companies. My focus is on helping them to develop and implement their corporate strategy, spanning acquisition, merger, integration, restructuring, refinancing, and sale to realise equity value.
What can I do for your organisation?
In short, help you move your business forward.
More specifically, I can help with developing business plans, appraising investment options, forecasting, refinancing, advising on group structure from both a commercial and a tax viewpoint, providing deal support on company sale and purchase, and assisting with exit planning.
I have been with Smith Cooper since 2004. I joined the Nottingham office in 2010 and became a partner in 2011 and then Managing Partner of the firm in 2016.
During my time here, I have given advice on all of the above points to clients in a wide variety of sectors, who have ranged from small owner-managed businesses up to large groups with turnovers in excess of £100 million. In addition, I have worked closely with a number of clients in a deal support role and have a strong grounding in the relevant tax implications of such transactions.
I have a first-class degree with honours in Accounting and Finance from Newcastle University Business School and won an R J Weston Fund prize in my final chartered accountancy exams.
In situations where time is of the essence, I have worked alongside clients, advising them through various scenarios, including buying and selling businesses, refinancing, investment appraisal, and distressed business situations.
Time away from work includes sporting pursuits, including racquetball, golf, skiing, boating and water sports. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, entertaining, being entertained, travelling, and sharing new experiences. Oh, and I do love gadgets!
