Hello…
I am a Senior Manager in Smith Cooper’s employment tax team having joined in October 2020. I am based in Derby, but I work across all the Smith Cooper offices.
What can I do for your organisation?
PAYE tax and National Insurance Contributions (NIC) are major contributors to the amount of taxes collected by HMRC each year. A major reason for this is the increase in the number of HMRC Employment Tax compliance and National Minimum Wage reviews, coupled with the significant recent changes to the employment taxes legislation. I use both my HMRC and large accountancy practice experience to ensure that all my clients remain compliant with the ever-changing tax legislation. Aside from the compliance, I also help clients with ensuring that they provide their employees with benefits and expenses in the most tax efficient manner.
Experience counts
I have over 30 years’ experience in dealing with all aspects of employment taxes issues, initially as an NIC inspector then as a HMRC Employer Compliance officer, and for the last 13 years as an Employment Taxes adviser with top 10 accountancy firms. This enables me to give my clients the added value of looking at any potential tax issue from both HMRC and commercial perspective.
Deeper knowledge
I have experience of all aspects of employment taxes. My expertise is in helping clients with HMRC Employer Compliance reviews, employment status, expenses and benefits, Construction Industry Scheme and termination payment issues. These are considered top Employment Taxes risks by HMRC.
Personally speaking
Outside of work, I like to read and listen to music. I also watch football and cricket and follow Leicester City Football Club. I was lucky enough to see them parade the Premier League Championship Cup at the end of the 2015-16 season and was gutted that we missed out on top 4 last year!
