I am a Tax Director based out of our Birmingham office.
What can I do for your organisation?
When it comes to tax, I pride myself in finding the best solution for my clients, whilst also ensuring that together we never lose sight of their long-term commercial objectives.
I have worked within the profession for 15 years, starting as an accounting apprentice within a small general practice in 2005, I qualified as a chartered certified accountant in 2012.
It was at this point that I made the decision to focus solely on tax, joining the corporate team at RSM, advising clients on corporate matters such as capital allowances, research and development tax credits and transfer pricing. I qualified as a chartered tax adviser in 2014.
In 2015 I was approached by a regional law firm with an offer to join them and help to expand their transactional tax offering in the market. I spent two years advising clients on the share incentives, corporate reconstructions, and capital gains tax planning, with the objective of mitigating tax leakage on business sales and acquisitions.
In 2017 I returned to the world of accountancy, joining the entrepreneurial private client team at Grant Thornton. For the past three years I have continued to advise clients on sales and acquisitions, however, I have broadened my knowledge and experience advising clients on matters of succession, including inheritance tax and offshore tax planning.
Although I have a fairly broad knowledge across the taxes, I particularly enjoy advising owner managers on both corporate and personal tax matters. My main areas of specialism include advising clients on:
- Corporate reorganisations
- Employee incentivisation
- Shareholder disputes
- Business sales and acquisitions
- Succession planning
Outside of work I spend most of my spare time with my wife and 5-year-old daughter, we are also expecting our second child in February 2021 which is exciting.
In recent years I have become a huge fan of boxing, spending many a Saturday evening travelling around the UK with mates watching the big fights. I even attempted a white-collar bout myself back in 2017, but that is a story for another day!
