As a former VAT inspector Julian has been involved with VAT and construction industry issues from both sides of the fence. He has 30 years’ experience with VAT and indirect tax and has been involved in the sector throughout this time.
Land and property and construction are complex areas of VAT and with the increasingly harsh penalty regime in place it is important to get things right. Julian has assisted many clients in their dealings with HMRC and provides advice to the accountants and business advisers to help guide them through the construction industry minefield.
With over 30 years’ experience dealing with Employment Tax issues, Mick previously worked as an HMRC Employer Compliance Inspector and followed that by working in Big 4 Accountancy firms for a number of years as an Employment Tax Specialist.
Mick aims to bring commercial and practical solutions to business issues, including providing assistance in the event of a HMRC Employer Compliance/CIS Inspection. Mick has significant experience of advising the construction industry and is aware of the sector issues such as employment status and areas falling inside, or outside, the Construction Industry scheme.
