Smith Cooper Corporate Finance, the specialist corporate finance division of Smith Cooper, have been shortlisted for 4 awards at the East Midlands Dealmakers Awards, as voted for by a panel of industry experts and judges.
The prestigious Insider Dealmaker awards are an annual recognition of the achievements of firms, funders and individuals driving the region’s deal making sector, and the perfect opportunity to celebrate the very best M&A work carried out in the East Midlands.
The process and client contact elements of deal-making may have changed over the last 12 months as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but deal activity has remained robust, with more than 400 M&A deals completed in the region last financial year, which is in line with previous years.
This level of activity is reflected in the number of nominations submitted to Insider, with more than 280 individuals, deals and organisations nominated, showcasing how well the deal-making community has adapted to the challenging business landscape in the past year.
The 4 categories that we’ve been nominated for are:
- Corporate Finance Advisory Team Of The Year
- Deal Of The Year (under £10m) – MBO of Fabrikat
- Deal Of The Year (above £10m) – Chandlers acquisition of Lister Wilder’s Agco Division
- Emerging Dealmaker Of The Year – Tom Joy
John Farnsworth, Partner and Head of Smith Cooper Corporate Finance comments:
“I am immensely proud of the team and the way they, and the firm, adapted to the changes required in winning and delivering client services during what has undoubtedly been a challenging time for deal-makers across the region. Our recognition in these awards is testament to the team’s flexibility, determination and single-minded focus on providing top quality service to clients in a competitive Midlands marketplace. We have acted for a range of fantastic clients operating in various sectors including Hospitality, Engineering, Telecomms, Fire and Security, and Self-Storage to name but a few, helping them achieve their aspirations”.
“Whilst there was short-lived paralysis in Q2 2020, we saw a brisk and sustained increase in activity for the rest of 2020 and through to our March 2021 year end, producing a very good overall result. In addition, there was a strengthening stream of new opportunities meaning that, as the wider economy begins to return to some semblance of normality, we are confidently anticipating that 2021 will be a very busy year for transactions”.
