Creative Class 2013/2014

Posted on 27 September 2013

Nottingham has proved to be a very fertile area for business growth and innovation. We are fortunate enough to have a growing number of successful companies in a range of sectors and The Creative Class exists to profile and celebrate these companies.

Every year a number of these entrepreneurs and companies are showcased through the Creative Class and it is time to apply to be part of 2013/14.

What’s in it for me?

There are significant benefits to your business in being a member of The Creative Class. Each calendar year members will be:

  • Featured on the new Creative Quarter website
  • Featured on the Invest In Nottingham Club (IINC) website
  • Featured in IINC printed promotional literature
  • Cited as examples of creative, dynamic businesses in all IINC press and marketing opportunities
  • Put forward by the Creative Quarter company and IINC to provide comments to the media and for related opportunities
  • Featured at an IINC members event to showcase the city’s creative and entrepreneurial talent
  • Receive free membership to the IINC, including invitations to events where possible
  • Invited to a Creative Class members-only (current and alumni) networking event in the year to encourage greater integration of the 2013/14 class with each other and with previous classes

How do I apply?

It has been agreed that businesses can be from any sector and may be at a range of stages but they have to meet the following criteria:

1) Creative - companies must have new or innovative products, services, technologies, markets or be taking a new approach. Innovation will be at the heart of what they do.

2) Growth ambitions - they must have a burning desire to grow their companies, generate more wealth in the region & create jobs, or must in the opinion of the selection committee have the potential to do so.

3) Ambassadorial - the successful candidates will be ambassadors for their companies, their sectors, and for Nottingham and its entrepreneurial scene. The successful candidates will have the attributes to be effective ambassadors.

At this stage we are asking companies and businesses to submit an Expression of Interest, telling us a little about your business (including some links to keep it short), why you're interested in The Creative Class and summarising in no more than 200 words how your business meets these criteria. Your Expressions of Interest should be sent to by the closing date of Thursday 3 October.

Following this, the Expressions of Interest will be reviewed and a number of businesses will be invited to submit a full application by Friday 25 October.

The Creative Class 2013/14 will be announced in early December 2013, with the Creative Class 2013/14 event happening in January 2014.
