Midlands based Accountants and Business advisors Smith Cooper are delighted to announce their Corporate Finance team were awarded not one, but two Awards last night at the Insider East Midlands Dealmakers Awards.

The first award was SME Deal of The Year for the £3m development funding for 200 Degrees. Not the first time to be recognised for their outstanding deal generation and involvement, this is the fourth consecutive year that the team have been awarded Deal of the Year. 2015 and 2016 saw the team win the award in the East Midlands, and 2017, and 2018 in the West Midlands.

Of the deal, Corporate Finance Partner Dan Bowtell comments: “We are delighted to have been recognised for our involvement in 200 Degrees capital development deal. 200 Degrees is highly renowned locally, having established a reputable and ethical brand over the last 5 years, and the funding that we were able to secure for them will undoubtedly develop the company much further.”

The second of last night’s award wins was the coveted Advisory Team of the Year award. This was the first time the team have received this award in the East Midlands, but have previously won this award in the West Midlands in 2017.

Head of Corporate Finance John Farnsworth comments: “Smith Cooper Corporate Finance has been on an upwards trajectory during the last year, completing a record breaking number of deals, and we’re incredibly proud to be recognised as an industry leader.”

“The type of deals varied, including acquisitions, sales, management buy-outs and buy-ins, as well as several development capital deals. Confident of continued growth in activity, we invested heavily in additional team members during 2017 and our transaction pipeline indicates an even better 2018/19.”

Corporate Finance Partner Dan Bowtell was also listed as a finalist for Dealmaker of The Year 2018, having completed a number of landmark deals in the last year.

The awards follow Smith Cooper Corporate Finance’s most successful year yet, with a record breaking 35 deals completed in 2017 – a hike from the previous year’s total of 28. This has propelled the team into new territory, placing them amongst multinational advisors in the top 10 rankings of the Experian Midlands deal leagues.

Whilst the majority of deals were completed within the Midlands region, a significant number were spread across the UK and extended internationally.
