Smith Cooper announces appointment of new Audit Partner in Birmingham

Smith Cooper, one of the region’s leading and most trusted accountancy and business advisory firms working with SME’s and owner managed businesses has further boosted its offering in Birmingham, with the appointment of a new Audit Partner.

Stephen Newman joined as Head of Audit for Smith Cooper’s Birmingham office on 1 June 2016. Stephen is an experienced audit and advisory partner, having worked with owner managed businesses for over 20 years across a wide range of sectors. He spent 15 years at Bentley Jennison,  and more recently was an audit partner at RSM (formerly Baker Tilly), a large national practice. He has assisted start-ups and growing businesses, including support with access to funding, preparation of business plans and accounting systems, and has advised owners with exit strategies, both on retirement and on sales and mergers.

On his appointment Stephen commented, “I am very pleased to be joining Smith Cooper. I have admired the innovative and collaborative approach that they use and look forward to meeting and working with the clients, alongside using my experience to bring new business to the firm.”
