On Friday 27th July, over 50 cyclists took to the Derbyshire hills as part of our third cycling sportive alongside British UCI Continental team professional cyclists, Vitus Pro Cycling team.

Despite the threat of impending thunderstorms and flash floods, the weather held back, treating riders to clear skies and warm weather which provided spectacular, unspoilt views across the peak district. Surely enough to make it all worthwhile!

The riders were expertly guided by the Vitus Pro team, who were split amongst 3 pods of riders. Setting off from the historical Cromford Mills, the determined riders conquered the gruelling 55-mile circular route, ascending over 5000m and passing by stunning Derbyshire locations such as Hope Valley, Baslow and Chatsworth.

David Nelson, Senior Partner at Smith Cooper and Commercial and Financial Director of the Vitus Pro Team comments: “This is the third year that we have held the sportive, and it was the most challenging yet given the heat and the route.”

“The Vitus Pro Team were fantastic and gave riders an unforgettable experience. We’re really proud to be associated with such a talented and determined team, and grateful to be able to offer an opportunity like this to our friends.”

Vitus Pro Cycling Team Director Cherie Pridham adds: “We love taking part in this event, and this year it was great to ride alongside my team. Thank you to Smith Cooper and Duffo for ensuring the day was a total success – we’re already looking forward to the next one!”

Claire Duffin from Duffo comments: “This is third year that we have had the privilege to work with the Vitus Pro cycling team in organising a memorable day out in the saddle for their friends and sponsors. It’s an amazing chance for people to gain an insight into the workings of a professional cycling team.”
