Smith Cooper guided the owners of a successful welfare to work training services provider, North Wessex Training, in a sale to Campbell Page, an Australian based charity for an undisclosed amount.

The deal secured an exit for the owners of North Wessex, Joy Townley and Andris Taurins who founded the business in 1988. Operating out of 7 locations in the South West, North Wessex Training employed about 45 people and helped around 5,000 long term unemployed people per annum back into work.

Smith Cooper negotiated the deal with the Australian CEO of Campbell Page and rigorously project managed the transaction throughout. Valuable input was provided throughout the process by a Smith Cooper consultant, Helen Richardson, an industry expert in the Employability and Skills arena. Taxation advice was provided to North Wessex and its owners by Smith Cooper’s tax team.

Helen Richardson commented, “Having experienced several transactions on the other side of the fence it is clear that Smith Cooper did a great job in structuring, negotiating and completing the transaction within a few months”. Joy Townley praised Smith Cooper saying, “They supported us every inch of the way to a successful sale. They were sensitive to our needs at all times and maintained a professional approach throughout. We have no hesitation in recommending them”.
