Smith Cooper advised serial Derby entrepreneur, Mel Morris, on his acquisition of a 20% stake in Derby County Football Club.

Mel was previously a director at the club during 2006 and 2007. He is a shareholder and non-executive chairman of the recently floated King Digital Entertainment plc, the company behind Candy Crush Saga and other smartphone and digital games. He was also behind the 1998 launch of uDate which ultimately listed on Nasdaq, and the internet security company Prevx.

Andrew Delve, managing partner of Smith Cooper, has led advisory work for Mel for many years.
