Client Quote

"Since refining the sage accounts and implementing the new sage manufacturing software, production planning has become a lot simpler. It was always very laborious ensuring all parts were on order or in stock for new machine build. With the automation of most of the administration it has enable our staff to utilise there time more effectively and myself to give accurate lead times according to the production planning. Smith Cooper were a big help in the implementation and on going improvement of the system"

Brendan Ratcliffe
Production Director

Business Need
The company had an increased demand for the manufacture of its electric tug units as it moved into new industries with it products that eliminate manual handling. The increased demand made it more difficult to maintain an accurate production plan and keep stock levels at there most efficient.

The Solution
The company was already using Sage Line 50 accounts for its core ledgers, but were not utilising the full potential of the software. With this in mind, Smith Cooper put forward a training proposal for the existing Sage software to bring in use of the Stock, POP, SOP and invoicing modules.

Once this had been implemented and used for a few months it proved to be invaluable. It was then decided to introduce Sage Manufacturing to link in with and work along side the Sage Line 50 accounts system, bringing all the business processes together.

The Benefits
The fact that the stock system was now accurate and the manufactured items were all set up in Sage Manufacturing it could be seen at the touch of a button if it was possible to Manufacture a specific item, how long it would take and if any parts need to be ordered to complete the order. A weekly production plan was created by the software, which took into account which jobs were urgent and also made the best utilisation of the machines and labour processes required depending which products were being manufactured.
