Business Need
The company is a major importer and distributor of Art and Craft supplies and had used Line 50 for 2 years and found it to be functional and met the management reporting requirements but due to business growth and the number of transactions entered, Sage Line 50 was struggling to hold the volume of data and was proving to be unresponsive when reporting.
The Solution
After an initial consultation and business review it was clear that Sage MMS V3 was the solution that would meet their needs. Smith Cooper also provided the latest Sage MMS software along with an ongoing Hardware and Software support package.
Smith Cooper installed both the hardware and software that would form the basis of their system. This included two servers, one to control the domain and another to host the SQL based Sage MMS solution.
The MMS system was implemented in December 2005 over the quiet holiday period so that there was a smooth change over from one system to the other. A number of reporting requirements arose during this time but these were dealt with by working with the client both in and out of normal office hours to ensure that their requirements were met.
The Benefits
The introduction of this system has provided immediate benefits in terms of the number of transactions that the system can hold. Coupled with the SQL server this has meant that reports that previously were slow to produce are now almost instantaneous.
The client has also seen a positive impact across the whole business, from the effectiveness of purchasing and stock control through to the speed and efficiency of invoicing. Sage MMS has coped with the introduction of another company to the business by allowing reports and invoices to be produced automatically with different logos and layouts.
