Marathon mission for Smith Cooper manager Monday, 1st March 2010
James Bagley, senior manager at Smith Cooper is set to prove that he’s miles ahead of the competition when he takes part in this year’s Virgin London Marathon.
James is running the gruelling run on Sunday 25 April to raise funds for Get Kids Going, which helps disabled children take part in sport by providing specialist wheelchairs, sports grants and year-round support.
James has already raised more than £500 of his £2,000 target, which will help the charity build special wheelchairs, so that children and young people can do marathons, triathlons, tennis, athletics, mountain skiing, rugby and basketball.
A sports wheelchair can cost £3,000 and a lightweight manual wheelchair is around £2,000.
As a first time marathon runner, James has been training hard over the last few months to ensure he is ready for the 26 mile challenge.
Commenting on his marathon effort, James said:
“Although I’m very nervous about the run, I’m also excited about the prospect of completing the challenge and raising as much money as I can for such a worthy cause.”
“I would like to thank all those people who have already donated money for their generous support, which will help to improve the lives of many children,” added James
