Smith Cooper has climbed 7 places in the Accountancy Age Top 50 + 50 2017 ranking, surging into the top 50 following a successful year.

The Top 50+50 Accountancy Age 2017 ranking lists the UK’s top 100 accountants based on their total domestic fee income. Smith Cooper currently ranks 47th in the UK across all Accountancy practices, a significant improvement on 2016’s position of 54th.

2017 has been a year shrouded in economic and political uncertainty amid dubious Brexit negotiations and the fall in the value of the pound, creating uncertainty within the accounting industry.

Despite these challenges however, Smith Cooper has demonstrated remarkable stability. Fee income has hit a record high, with £13.1 million being generated and pipeline forecasts positively booming.

We have also recently welcomed 16 new recruits including 11 graduates, 4 seniors and one new Partner as to further bolster our Midlands offering and to continue to deliver a first-class service to our extensive range of clients.

James Bagley, Managing Partner of Smith Cooper commented: “The Accountancy Age ranking comes during a period of success and expansion for the firm.

“Over the past two years, the firm has celebrated 21% growth in 2015-16 and a further 19% growth 2016-17 respectively, award wins including SME Advisory Team of the Year, ICAEW’s Medium Accountancy firm of the Year and a number of specialist service line specific accolades.”

He continues: “We are a progressive and ambitious firm, and are proud that our efforts and successes are recognised by other professionals, our clients and notable industry publications such as Accountancy Age. Our achievements are testament to the hard work and resilience of the Smith Cooper team.”
