West Midlands’ professional business advisory firms Smith Cooper and Barnett Ravenscroft Wealth Management (BRWM) have become Exclusive Partners of Families in Business (FiB).
Birmingham-based FiB works exclusively with family businesses and professional advisers across the UK to provide relevant help and support to family businesses and SMEs via its growing professional community.
Dani Saveker, FiB’s founder and CEO, said: “We are delighted that Smith Cooper and BRWM have joined FiB as Exclusive Partners in the West Midlands.
“Both firms provide a deep understanding and level of support to family-run businesses in-line with FiB’s aim to deliver a relevant and informed go-to support network for family businesses, particularly via our growing network of Exclusive Partners, business advisers, professionals and suppliers.
“Our Exclusive Partners are active members of the FiB team, and this community works together under the FiB unique framework and approach to help and benefit family businesses.”
She adds: “Family businesses need trusted advisers for their corporate and private needs, their property, family matters, tax, investment and wealth, restructuring and finance, and FiB strives to provide a community that can deliver this expertise to all families in business, whatever stage the business is at in its history and growth. Smith Cooper and BRWM are an excellent addition to this network.
“It is vital our Exclusive Partners have an understanding and appreciation of family businesses and how best to support families working together in business. Like all our Partners across the region and UK, Smith Cooper and BRWM have a track record of working with family businesses, alongside a passion to make a difference to them. Both firms continually develop their focus around intimacy and how best to put the family at the heart of business.
“Our Exclusive Partners network is focused on enabling family businesses to tackle challenging situations, such as succession, restructuring or growth, so they can successfully move forward with a family business that is refreshed, better and stronger.”
FiB’s Exclusive Partner network is restricted to only one firm in each area of professional expertise in a geographic sub region. FiB provides tailored support packages and programmes to member family businesses and FiB Membership is available to family businesses regardless of size, age or sector.
Dani adds: “We believe that families in business need to be able to trust and rely on their advisers and the first step in working towards this is having a place to find them – FiB, its network and community is here to make this possible.”
Jackie Hendley of Smith Cooper, commented: “Working with family businesses requires a deep understanding of the way the business functions and the issues they may encounter. At Smith Cooper, we have vast experience of working with family businesses and the various issues they face, ranging from structure to succession planning, reward mechanism, separation of family and business activities, tax arrangements and many more. We know the business challenges they face, the emotional aspects of running a family business, issues and the passion with which they tackle each day. Our client base is predominately made up of family businesses, and, as such, we’re perfectly placed to be a Families in Business Exclusive Partner and are very excited to be working with FiB to serve this important community“
Richard Wood, managing director of BRWM, commented: “BRWM has many years’ experience of providing investment and wealth management advice and expertise to family businesses so, for us, FiB is a completely complementary organisation which we are delighted to support.”
Family businesses account for two in every three UK private enterprises and employ over 9 million people in the UK. FiB is an organisation focused on providing help and support to family businesses and was created by its CEO Dani Saveker in 2012. It is an approved Growth Accelerator Training Provider.
