Share Of £200 million Fund Now Open to Nottingham Businesses at Roadshow Event This Friday

Nottingham businesses can find out how to bid for a slice of £200 million pounds from Round 6 of the Regional Growth Fund this Friday.

Local businesses, business support organisations and intermediaries could all benefit from the Roadshow event that will be taking place this Friday 1stAugust from 10.00am at the Theatre Royal, and are invited to attend and find out more.

The Roadshow is being has been arranged by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and Nottingham City Council, to raise application rates for Round 6 of the Government funding.

The event will give local businesses a chance to discover what the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) is, what makes a successful bid and how each application received is appraised. There will also be a question and answer session with a panel of experts, including an economist, a local business figure and a senior member of the RGF team.

Businesses can also request a face-to-face meeting with one of the RGF Secretariat team members to go through their plans and receive initial feedback ahead of submitting a formal application.

Projects looking for over £1million which will create or safeguard jobs and raise private finance of at least 1:1 are welcome to bid for the monies.

Speaking about the event, Councillor Nick McDonald, Portfolio Holder for Jobs and Growth at Nottingham City Council, commented: “We fully encourage local businesses to come along and find out how they can take advantage of these Government funds to boost their plans for growth. Nottingham has a record number of business start-ups and we want to ensure that support is available for those who grow to the next level.”

So far, the Regional Growth Fund has allocated £2.9 billion in support to businesses and intermediaries. This is expected to lead to 573,000 jobs and generate £16 billion in private investment nationally.

In Nottingham, one business who has already benefitted from RGF is Romax Technologies Ltd, the world’s leading provider of advanced simulation technologies, design and consulting services for gearbox and driveline systems. The company received support towards their newly-opened £5.6 million head office at The University of Nottingham’s Innovation Park.

Andy Poon, Chief Executive Officer at Romax Technologies Limited, commented: "The Regional Growth Fund has enabled Romax to develop a simulation software platform that revolutionises transmission design and development, resulting in additional jobs and a exciting future for the company".

The Roadshow event is essential for anyone thinking of submitting a bid and is taking place in Level 4 Concert Hall, Theatre Royal and Concert Hall, Theatre Square, Nottingham on Friday 1st August from 10.00am.
