Smith Cooper’s Birmingham team has continued to go from strength to strength in recent months, bolstering its Tax, Corporate Finance and Audit divisions, to enable continued growth within the region.

The new starters join at an exciting point, as the firm refocuses its strategic development following a challenging year. Those joining include:

Adam Rollason, who joined Smith Cooper at the beginning of September as part of the wider recruitment drive and who leads Birmingham’s Tax division comments:

“Beginning a new role in the midst of a pandemic was always going to be different, but by fostering a culture of inclusivity, and providing new members of staff with ample support, the transition has been seamless.”

“Although the majority of us continue to work from home, there is very much a sense of ambition for the Birmingham office as we look to gain market share for our specialist divisions in the medium term by harnessing and developing the skills within our team.”

Stephen Newman, Partner at Smith Cooper, based in Birmingham comments:

“We’re really pleased to welcome our new recruits. These appointments highlight Smith Cooper’s commitment to investing in promising talent in challenging market conditions and our continued investment in the region.”

“In the last year, our services have become increasingly relevant to a much wider range of businesses, which has resulted in continued growth for the firm. Now more than ever, businesses are seeking exceptional and reliable professional services, and we’re proud to be able to provide that.”

Darren Hodson, Partner at Smith Cooper, also based in Birmingham adds:

“The outbreak of COVID-19 has challenged businesses in every sector, ourselves included. Yet despite this, we have an exceptionally talented and pro-active team who deliver unparalleled support to our clients.”

“In Birmingham we will continue to enhance our offering to regional businesses. Our hands-on proposition and our breadth of specialist value added services really resonate with our target client base being entrepreneurs and owner managed businesses. We hope to help our clients on their upward trajectory, which helps us grow and allows us to recruit and retain exceptional talent. I look forward to watching our new additions help us thrive as a team.”

2020 has been a significant year for Smith Cooper, least not for the fact the firm celebrated 35 years, were ranked the 41st largest UK firm in the Accountancy Age Top 50+50 and also completed several notable corporate finance transactions, such as the sale of a management consulting firm Ameo to The Panoply.

The team were also nominated for Large Accounting Firm of the Year at the Accounting Excellence awards, and Smith Cooper Corporate Finance, our specialist corporate finance division, is also in in the running for several awards at the Midlands Dealmakers Awards.
