The Buxton office of Smith Cooper held a Sports Raffle in aid of High Peak Foodbank, their chosen charity for the year, on Saturday 17th December. The raffle was hosted by Buxton FC at their Silverlands Clubhouse.
High Peak Foodbank is a charity established to work with individuals in crisis situations in the High Peak to provide, food to prevent immediate hunger, support to sort out the crisis and help finding jobs so they don’t face poverty again. The charity relies on donations of food and money to make that possible.
Tickets were sold and drawn at the event, which attracted a fantastic group of people. Prizes, with a sports theme, had been kindly donated by sports people, clubs local businesses. The first prize to be claimed were Buxton Bucks tickets!
The office also did a sponsored walk in the Autumn and the grand total raised this year is an incredible £958.
Catherine Desmond, partner at the Smith Cooper Buxton office commented, “This is the busiest time for the charity which provides vital support to individuals in the local area, and as a firm we are proud to be supporting this great cause at a local level. We decided on a Sports Raffle, as we thought it was a great way of combining raising money, whilst offering the chance to win one or two Christmas gifts!”
Paul Bohan of High Peak Foodbank added, “It was brilliant to see so many people attend the raffle and supporting our cause. At this time of year the work we do is ever more vital, so all donations we receive are immediately put to work. We would like to thank Smith Cooper for their continued support and for the ongoing efforts they have made this year in raising funds on our behalf. ”
