ADS Accountancy Limited has committed to its plan of expanding into the Burton marketplace by acquiring the Burton Upon Trent office of Smith Cooper. This follows their recent acquisition of Nicholson Blythe, and now gives them the largest independent accountancy offering in Burton.
ADS was formed in 2004 by Directors Steve Sharp and Adam Dominey to assist SMEs in growing their business through financial management, compliance and by minimising tax. The firm currently operates in Derby and Burton and acquired the Burton Office of Smith Cooper as part of its growth plans.
Smith Cooper is a Midlands based accountancy and business advisory firm who provide a wide range of services to owner-managed businesses. Whilst Smith Cooper as a practice will be celebrating its 30th year shortly, the Burton office stretches back almost 100 years. Smith Cooper will continue to support ADS and their Burton clients in the more specialist areas of complex tax advisory, corporate finance and financial services. Andrew Delve, Managing Partner of Smith Cooper commented: “what’s really exciting about the transaction is that both Steve and Adam started off their careers as part of Smith Cooper before forming ADS.”
Andrew Delve added. "The sale of Smith Cooper in Burton to ADS Accountancy, when added to their existing business, will create a more diversified and stronger unit which is able to draw upon years of local experience to provide a high quality, reliable and cost-efficient service to local businesses."
Steve Sharp added, "Smith Cooper is a well-established business that we know extremely well having trained there, and the transaction is an important step for us. We have inherited a highly experienced team who have vast experience in dealing with locally based SMEs. With our great service offering and enhanced team, we are excited to start the next successful chapter for ADS.”
Existing Staffordshire based Smith Cooper clients currently serviced by the Derby and Birmingham offices will be unaffected by the changes.
Martyn Brierley of Flint Bishop provided legal support to Smith Cooper and Matthew Bradley and Stephanie Smith of Bradley and Jefferies assisted ADS.
