Audit Senior - Nottingham

We are looking for an experienced Audit Senior to join our Nottingham team. To be successful with your application you will have previously worked within an Accountancy practice for a minimum period of 2 years.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Candidates are expected to be ACA or ACCA qualified or part qualified.
  • Present a professional image of the firm at all times
  • Establish good working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Approach day to day tasks with an open mind and be willing to receive constructive feedback and display learning in later work
  • Be an active and helpful member of the team
  • Prioritise effectively to meet set deadlines and budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of CaseWare, CCH, Sage software is an advantage
  • Understand sensitivity of client information and confidentiality
  • Understanding and working knowledge of FRS 102, IFRS and other relevant accounting standards
  • Understanding and working knowledge of auditing standards
  • Work and travel predominantly around the Nottinghamshire region – requires own transport

Key responsibilities

  • Preparation and audit of statutory accounts – including Limited Companies, not-for-profit organisations including Charities and Academies
  • Plan and complete audit assignments, working with experienced managers, Directors and Partners
  • Regularly working at client’s premises as part of an audit team leading and supporting the team as required
  • Engage with the client in gathering appropriate audit evidence and in feedback sessions
  • Use knowledge from previous assignments to recognise and understand recurring issues and themes
  • Work with awareness of Smith Cooper’s policies, procedures and ethical requirements
  • Play an important role in supervising and in coaching junior staff and providing constructive feedback
  • Ensure that junior staff understand the objectives of the work set and see how it fits into the overall client work
  • Review the work of junior staff members
  • Prepare financial statements for limited companies, charities and academies
  • Understand sensitivity of client information and confidentiality
  • Undertake ad hoc assignments with assistance
